GRAYN is a concept, is an idea.

Something with GRAYN is an object that has tactile and visual qualities to it. GRAYN is also the source, the drive and the beginning of a creation.

We are two siblings — I’m Asraf Kafaouin, the designer, and together with my sister Salam Kafaouin, a gifted artist and maker, we founded GRAYN to design and craft objects and bring them to the people around us. We hope the objects we make find a natural place in people’s everyday life.

Our studio is in one of the most charming cities, Thessaloniki. It’s where ideas start out raw. We study them, talk them through, and slowly begin shaping them to satisfy our eagerness to create. Our process usually begins with a concept we both contribute to. We sketch, use computers, 3D printing, prototypes, moulds… We fail sometimes, but eventually we bring things to life.

We are people-centred. We like to share things with others, and our joy comes from offering our work to the world around us.

We do our best to keep the environment and local community in mind. We look for the most thoughtful, eco-friendly solutions when developing our products and always aim to work with local partners.
